Product Reviews

Johnson™ Beetle Shad® is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works! I used them for the first time in April 2014 while Smallmouth fishing at Dale Hollow, Ky. I attached it to an 1/8 ounce black with white eye jig head and used a very slow retrive and lighlty bounced it off the bottom. I caught smallmouth and Kentucky bass. Throughout the summer I used it at a couple local lakes. I caught largemouth. April 2015 I fished Lake Cumberland, Ky. I caught a 27" Striper, missed one (steady retrieve) and caught a large mouth (light bounce off bottom), and this was just messing around. We actually went down on a Striper Charter. --- I am bummed that I can't find it locally. I figure I am going to load up on them and hope it becomes a mainstay Johnson item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lights - out early season bait A few years ago, I stumbled onto these "beetle shad". I know this sounds like a TV commercial, but I caught more fish than my buddy who was using minnows. I rig them onto a 1/16 oz jighead and retrieve slowly and steadily. Last night (Friday, May 8, 2015) I went to a local reservoir and caught probably 40 fish (sunfish, perch, crappie, white bass, largemouth bass). The shops in my area don't carry the beetle shad any more, but I found them in Raleigh, NC and bought the entire inventory. Get them back in New Jersey !

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tried on Trout I tried this on brook trout last spring when reaching my fishing hole and the first couple of casts I got no strike's,So I left if sit on bottom while looking for something else to try,And my rod started going toward the water pretty fast.Much to my surprise That little Lure caught a 14" Brookie!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lure ever This is the only thing I use all year when fishing streams and rivers. I use it to catch trout bass and bluegills.
